- State of Pennsylvania and OpenAI Launch First-in-the-Nation Generative AI Pilot for Commonwealth Employees. This collaboration makes Pennsylvania the first state in USA to work with OpenAI. But one may question is it safe for a State to use an AI where no one knowns the source the model was built on? The ‘Federal Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Act of 2023’ is a proposed bill in the United States Senate that aims to establish a framework for the responsible development, procurement, and use of AI by federal agencies. It is suggested that federal agencies consider adopting the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and explore implementing specific risk management practices for AI systems. Prior to the Pennsylvania announcement, computer scientists from NIST and their collaborators identify these and other vulnerabilities of AI and machine learning (ML) in a new publication ‘Adversarial Machine Learning: A Taxonomy and Terminology of Attacks and Mitigations (NIST.AI.100-2)‘.
