AI on Pi Day Highlights

We are excited to announce a new column in our Forecaster article where we’ll be showcasing our sessions! You’ll find them listed in chronological order, and as a bonus, we’ll be providing some complimentary gifts. To find them, just check the presentation links. Easy peasy!

As you are AIDA User Group Member, you know that our Bitol,  Linux Foundation AI & Data Sandbox project defines an open standard for data contracts called Open Data Contract Standard (ODCS). You will find the next column very interesting.

“Let’s start with generative AI. Generative AI creates new content rather than just analyzing existing data. It learns patterns and structures in its training data and uses this knowledge to create new outputs. Generative AI can create texts, images, graphs, audio files, and video files.”

Common Misconceptions About AI:

  • AI is like search engines: This is a common misconception. Generative AI, especially large language models (LLMs), work through a process called machine learning. They are trained on large datasets from the internet and other sources, analyzing patterns to understand language structure and content. LLMs can predict the next word in a sentence to generate text that makes sense in context. They are very good at statistics.
  • AI can’t make mistakes. People often think AI is perfect, but this is not true. AI can make mistakes, just like a fast data analyst who might misunderstand something because of unclear data. Therefore, a critical eye must be applied when using AI.
  • AI can think and understand like humans. AI doesn’t think. It processes information using algorithms, which are sets of rules or instructions designed to perform specific tasks. AI makes decisions without understanding.
  • AI will replace all human jobs. AI is here to help us save time and do things better. It will automate repetitive tasks, allowing humans to focus on more important, creative, and strategic problems. AI will not replace humans, but people who use AI will replace those who don’t.

AI can help in the workplace.

“I had to spend all day analyzing an Excel file. With ChatGPT, I asked it to act as a data analyst. It found anomalies and potential issues in seconds.
It highlighted a discount value of 12%, which is clearly an error. It also pointed out missing values in the sales channel. This saved me hours of work. I could ask GPT to extract insights, make recommendations, and suggest visualizations.”

In conclusion, using generative AI to automate repetitive tasks and optimize your decision-making process. Creating value with AI in your workplace is crucial today.
